To be a school year or summer page, you must be at least 16
years old at least the time the appointment begins, a junior in high school, and have a cumulative grade point average of a B. You also must have healthy feet! These are minimum requirements
for both the House and Senate Page Programs.
The application process isn’t too complex. Positions
are competitive as there are only 72 positions available and are based on the Representative's seniority in the House of Representatives. There are two forms, one requesting
general information and a parental consent form. The House requests your official high school transcripts, a resume of extracurricular activities, three letters of recommendation, and 50-100 word essay on why the applicant would like to be a Page, as well as a letter of support from the sponsoring Member of Congress.
If you are interested in becoming a Page, you should
contact your district Representative or Senator’s office to obtain an application. To locate your Representative or Senator and their office locations, click the link below. Clicking this link will open a
new browser window and take you to their respective locations:
House of Representatives (http://www.house.gov/writerep)
Senate (http://www.senate.gov/senators/index.cfm)
When applying, you will apply directly to your Member of
Congress.
Your Member will decide from any other applications he/she may have received, which one they wish to sponsor. From there, the applications are sent to the Page Board (which consists of a group of Members of Congress), and from there they decide who will be accepted.
